Frequently asked questions
All my printers utilise various digital transfer techniques, enabling me to print not only onto garments but onto a wide range of hard surfaces, ranging from stainless steel to plastic. Here are some of the most frequently asked Questions: Q: What sort of Quality can I expect? A: Our digital transfers deliver high-quality prints with sharp details and vibrant colours. Q: What will the print Feel like on the garment? A: This is dependent on artwork preparation and the technique used to print, the feel of the print can range from soft to slightly textured. - (See: Tips for artwork Preparation) Q: How long will the prints last on the garment? A: Our transfers are designed to be long-lasting, with garment transfers typically enduring 30-50 washes without noticeable degradation, provided proper wash care is taken. Q: How do I care for the garment so as not to damage the print A: Machine wash on a gentle cycle with warm or cold water and air dry. Avoid hand washing (stone wash) as it is abrasive and not recommended. Q: How do your transfer differ from store bought iron-on transfers? A: Our prints are designed to transfer with commercial grade presses at specific time, temperature and pressure settings, which cannot be replicated with a hand held domestic iron. Q: Can we supply our own items for printing? A: Yes, For clothing we can print onto most fabrics. For hard surface items, dependant on the item type and size of print required, we'll advise the best printing method. For hard surface prints, we may request a sample for testing before the final job. Q: Do you supply t-shirts? A: We don't supply t-shirts, we prefer to give you option to select your preferred style, colour and fit. On large orders we can supply upon request. Q: Will you print just one item? A: Yes we will. Some print techniques, do require setup preparation which has an additional cost. Example Non print ready artwork, Embroidery, and some chemical transfer techniques. We’ll always inform you during your inquiry. If no setup is quoted non will apply.
Getting the Best from your artwork
The quality of your printed garment—its colours, appearance, and feel—is directly tied to the quality of the artwork provided. To achieve the best print results, it’s crucial to ensure your artwork is well-prepared and optimized for garment printing. Here are some key considerations: File Format: Vector vs Bitmap: Choosing between vector and bitmap formats is essential. Vector files are preferred because they can be scaled to any size without losing image quality. Bitmap files are less desirable since they are resolution-dependent and can suffer from pixelation if enlarged beyond their original size. In both cases, always save the image with a transparent background to avoid unwanted solid blocks of white or black ink. Color Modes: CMYK vs RGB: Printers use CMYK inks to print on garments, so creating and submitting your artwork in CMYK color mode will produce better results than using RGB. White Ink Considerations: Garment printers use white ink, which is important to consider in your design. For instance, if your image has a white background, as is common in JPEG images, the printer will treat white as a color and print it as it appears. Additionally, printers apply a white undercoat to the entire image, allowing full-color designs to be printed on dark or colored garments. Without this undercoat, the CMYK colors wouldn’t be visible on the garment. However, for images with high pixelation, low resolution, or designs that use semi-transparent effects like glows, drop shadows, or very light pastel colors, the white under-base can lead to unintended results. The printer places a white pixel beneath each semi-transparent pixel, which can overpower the original colors, often resulting in a white border or haze around the affected areas, altering the intended look of the design. How to Take Your Designs Up a Notch: Achieving a Soft Hand Feel: The gold standard in printing is to produce an image with a soft hand feel while maintaining vibrant colors. Solid blocks of ink can result in a heavy, stiff print, but you can soften this by: Removing Unnecessary Backgrounds: Reducing the amount of ink used by eliminating non-essential background elements lightens the print. Excluding the Garment Color: Adjusting the design to let the garment color show through in certain areas reduces ink coverage and softens the overall feel. Using a Halftone Effect: Introducing a halftone effect creates negative space within the image, allowing the garment color to peek through. This not only softens the print but also enhances wash durability, making your design last longer. Professional Assistance: If you don’t have access to professional design programs, it’s advisable to seek help from a professional or a skilled friend to make your artwork print-ready. Alternatively, you can ask us for assistance—this service typically comes at an additional cost, but it’s a worthwhile investment for achieving a professionally printed garment.
How do I place an order or get pricing
You can reach us via email, cell, or WhatsApp (the fastest option). Contact details are available on our contact page, or you can use the “Let’s Chat” function on our website. Please note that all visits to the shop are by appointment only. Step 1: Please provide the following information: 1.A low-resolution version of the file you would like printed. 2.The size of the image to be printed (in mm W x mm H). 3.The desired position on the T-shirt where the image should be printed. 4.The quantity of garments you wish to print. If you have multiple images on one garment, please repeat the above steps for each image. This information will allow us to provide you with a confirmed price for printing on your supplied T-shirt. Please note, at this stage, we do not evaluate whether your artwork is print-ready. Step 2: If the pricing is acceptable and you decide to proceed, we will then request the high-resolution version of your artwork. Once evaluated, we will inform you if any additional steps are needed to ensure your artwork is print-ready. If necessary, you can resubmit the corrected artwork, or we can provide a quote for this corrective work if requested. Step 3: Once your artwork is confirmed as final and print-ready, arrangements can be made to drop off the T-shirt for printing. Please note that full payment is required upfront when you drop off the T-shirt. We will then confirm a completion time, typically up to 48 hours for individual prints. Please note: The word “T-shirt” can be substituted for any other product you are seeking pricing for, such as bags, caps, mugs, pens, etc.
